T14G Braking Resistor

Features

The T14G braking resistor is made with special resistive elements inserted and cemented into an anodized aluminum metal container with IP54 protection rating.

The materials used for this series of braking resistors are non-combustible and in any case in the event of a failure the container does not allow any leakage.

OVERLOAD CONDITIONS

Resistors are used for overload operation, such as precharging of capacitors, dynamic braking of VFDs.

We can distinguish between 3 types of overload conditions:

  1. one is the single pulse (emergency braking, pre-charge in case of short circuit or abnormal setting)
  2. the second is the cyclic workload (e.g. as per the table above)
  3. the third is an overload condition (i.e. due to a fault in the system) or long braking time.

In all cases, the mass of the wire or resistive alloy must be calculated appropriately for the power to be dissipated. The mass of the wire always depends on the ohmic value. To help dissipate heat, the resistor is filled with silica.

For cyclic operation, the allowable braking power can be easily calculated in relation to the off duty cycle (ton / total time): Braking power = Rated power * (1 / Cycle)

This is only valid if the period is not longer than 300 s.

INSTALLATION

Please note: to facilitate heat dissipation, the resistors must be installed vertically with the cables in the lower part of the resistor.
